Course Synopsis: :This course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required for Certificate Course in Wildlife Management. Course Content :Module 1: Introduction to Wildlife Management (2 weeks – 1 credit)

  • Definition, scope, and importance of wildlife management
  • History and evolution of conservation practices
  • Role of wildlife in ecosystems and human society
  • Global and regional perspectives (CITES, IUCN, CBD)

Module 2: Ecology & Wildlife Biology (3 weeks – 2 credits)

  • Wildlife ecology principles (food chains, niches, population dynamics)
  • Species behavior and habitat requirements
  • Biodiversity and ecosystem services
  • Endangered species and conservation biology

Module 3: Wildlife Conservation & Protected Areas (3 weeks – 2 credits)

  • Protected area categories (national parks, sanctuaries, reserves)
  • Community-based conservation approaches
  • Human–wildlife conflicts: causes and solutions
  • Case studies: Sri Lanka, Africa, South Asia

Module 4: Wildlife Research & Monitoring Techniques (3 weeks – 2 credits)

  • Field survey methods (transects, camera traps, GPS, radio tracking)
  • Population estimation techniques
  • Data recording and analysis
  • Citizen science and technology in wildlife monitoring

  • Ethical issues in conservation and ecotourism
