Course Synopsis:	:This course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required for Certificate in Environmental Management. It integrates theoretical learning, group discussions, case studies, presentations, role-plays with interactive workshops designed to enhance professional competence and workplace readiness.
Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO) of the Course: After successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to ILO 1: Understand fundamental concepts of environmental management. ILO 2: Identify key environmental issues and their social/economic impacts. ILO 3: Apply basic tools such as EIA, auditing, and policy frameworks. ILO 4: Recommend practical solutions for pollution and waste management. ILO 5: Demonstrate awareness of climate change adaptation and sustainability practices. ILO 6: Engage in field-based learning and apply knowledge to real-world issues.

Course Content	Module 1: Introduction to Environmental Management (2 weeks – 1 credit) Concepts, scope, and principles of environmental management Human–environment interactions Sustainable development goals (SDGs) Global and local environmental challenges Module 2: Environmental Science & Ecosystems (2 weeks – 1 credit) Basics of ecology and ecosystems Natural resources: air, water, forests, soils, biodiversity Environmental degradation and conservation needs Module 3: Environmental Policies, Law & Governance (3 weeks – 2 credits) National environmental laws and regulations Environmental policies and governance structures International conventions (Paris Agreement, CBD, Ramsar, CITES) Role of government, NGOs, and community in environmental management Module 4: Pollution Control & Waste Management (3 weeks – 2 credits) Types of pollution: air, water, soil, noise Solid waste and hazardous waste management 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and circular economy Case studies of waste management practices Module 5: Tools & Techniques in Environmental Management (3 weeks – 2 credits) Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) basics Environmental auditing and reporting GIS and remote sensing applications (introductory level) Corporate environmental responsibility Module 6: Climate Change & Sustainability (2 weeks – 1 credit) Basics of climate science and global warming Adaptation and mitigation strategies Renewable energy and sustainable resource use Community-based climate resilience Module 7: Applied Project / Fieldwork (3 weeks – 3–4 credits) Field visit to a protected area, industry, or waste management site Practical assignment: conduct a small environmental audit or project Group project presentation/report on a local environmental issue
